Holiday Desserts

Not for Santa.

If you have a penchant for sweets, the holidays are a time to rejoice. From seasonal favourites to Yuletide-inspired desserts, there’s much to taste and enjoy.

Jackie Ellis of Beaucoup Bakery was recently honoured with a Mayor’s Arts Award for emerging culinary talent. The maker of croissants as good as you’ll find in Paris serves up twelve special sweets sure to bring flair and flavour to  your holiday table. Ellis’s Chestnut Financiers, delicate little creations made from candied chestnuts, will have more than visions of sugar plums dancing in your head.

Pastry chef Wayne Kozinko of Bel Café is also inspired by the City of Light, and has created a festive feast of rich Christmas cake, hazelnut linzer cookies, and candy cane-flavoured macarons (available in a festive tree presentation, perfect for gifting). But it is his spiced melt-in-your-mouth shortbread that makes my wish list. Très bien.
