Glow Room at Project Skin MD

Happy half-hour.

Go beyond the private patient rooms and head straight to the bar. Finished with sleek subway tiles, white marble, and a neon sign that reads, “it’s glow time!”, the newly opened Glow Room inside South Granville’s Project Skin MD has the inviting feel of a cocktail lounge. Specializing in the lunchtime facial, the Glow Room is meant to be a spot to quickly refresh and recharge with express peel bar treatments.

An expert esthetician custom-makes a 25-minute remedy, analyzing each patron’s skin—dryness, spots, and imperfections are assessed and treated with a range of dermatologist-favoured SkinCeuticals products. The process is unlike any chemical peel nightmare stories one may have heard: there is no redness, there is minimal irritation, and downtime is kept to virtually zero—walking out of the appointment, skin is fresh and radiant.

If time allows, additional options are on the menu. Microdermabrasion can be added to the express treatment to make for a 45-minute session. Also available is Dermaplaning, which removes peach fuzz from the face while gently exfoliating (the treatment is currently exclusive to Project Skin MD in British Columbia). Another exciting addition is the MAX+ LED, a technology designed by Canadian skin care expert Jennifer Brodeur. Using LED light therapy, the gentle rays give skin a vitamin boost, stimulating cells to restore themselves. The non-invasive procedure can treat a wide range of skin conditions with just one machine, and recently gained worldwide celebrity attention: Brodeur herself regularly treats Oprah Winfrey with the technology.

If touch-ups are needed, makeup specialists with Glo Minerals are at the ready with a light hand. But give it a couple weeks and it may not be necessary. Why cover up that glow?
