Lacoste x Jean-Paul Goude

Prep and punk.

Ribbon belts, coloured chinos both cuffed and un-cuffed, a well made Scotch and soda, and a Lacoste polo are all practically part of the prepster’s DNA.

For Christmas this year, though, the collegiate is letting loose—just a little bit. Lacoste, the iconic French brand headed by creative director Felipe Oliveira Baptista, has teamed up with graphic designer and illustrator Jean-Paul Goude for its annual Holiday Collector series.

Goude—who first made his mark on the fashion world with his work with muse Grace Jones—has elaborated the classic Lacoste crocodile logo, reinventing the animal into the bad boy of the jungle. Given free reign from the brand, Goude created a reimagining that brings in elements of costume and performance into the spunky interpretations. The newly liberated crocodile appears on the polo, of course, but also on a particularly fetching bomber/sukajan jacket, complete with a polo collar; the collection offers a tote and a shopper from the Chantaco line, as well. Lacoste’s holiday cheer is a cheeky addition to the prep repertoire. Be bad—make that a Scotch, straight up.
