The Roof Restaurant + Bar

Raising the roof.

The Panorama Roof at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver was once the hot spot of Vancouver society, frequented by celebrities such as Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, and Jack Benny. The venue debuted when the hotel opened in 1939, and quickly became known for its dinner and dancing. Dal Richards and his 11-piece big band played their first gig in the space on May 1, 1940, and continued to perform there for 25 years before the venue eventually closed.

Now, the space has reopened for a limited time. A $12-million lobby renovation at the historic Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, prompted the pop-up restaurant and bar to reopen on the 15th floor of the hotel, beneath its signature green copper roof. Paying homage to its glory days, the renamed Roof Restaurant + Bar will once again serve up classic cocktails, fine cuisine, live entertainment, and panoramic views.
