Mimi So

Personal touch.

Mimi So may be living the high life at her penthouse design studio and workshop on Fifth Avenue in New York, but at least once a year the jewellery designer takes time to visit Vancouver to meet her clientele and talk about her craft. That is the Mimi So style: the flair of a personal touch.

Growing up, Mimi attended the school of hard rocks; she endured some tough love while sweating it out at her parents’ jewellery shop in the Lower East Side where the standard was nothing less than perfection. Today she may have her own atelier, but the principle hasn’t changed. Even as her business grows, Mimi invests herself deeply in all aspects of design. Regarding her hands-on approach, Mimi says, “I’m the kind of girl who isn’t afraid to get under the hood of a car—I may still be in stilettos, but I’ll get my hands dirty.”

Mimi’s jewellery creations are exquisite, captivating, and playful—much like Mimi herself. The Ludlow collection includes an overtly large 18-karat gold ring speckled with tiny diamonds ranging between 0.06 and 1.27 carats. It’s Mimi’s cheeky answer to constantly hearing women in New York ask, “How big is your rock?” There is no question why women young and old are falling in love with Mimi So: the heart she has long worn on her sleeve now dangles from a necklace, set with diamonds of course.
