Holt Renfrew has been in Vancouver since 1975, and just like a favourite pair of shoes, it was in need of a little buffing and shining. Proving its focus on and commitment to the Vancouver market, the luxury department store is undergoing a massive 40,000-square-foot expansion and redesign that will culminate in a grand total of 190,000 square-feet.
First, there will be a new 80-seat fine dining restaurant called Holts Café, set to include a private dining room and bar. A great place to grab a stiff cocktail, it should make the men happy, although they will now have much more to browse themselves, thanks to a brand new Holt Renfrew Men section with its own entrance and private shopping suites. Brands new to the expanded space include Loewe, Dries Van Noten, Rick Owens, and Off White.
Additional in-house services for the whole store include shoe shining, sneaker cleaning, tailoring, leatherworking for embossing and repairs, and a Beauty Lab with nail and hair salon. There will also be an expanded personal shopping area called The Apartment, fit with exclusive use of the fourth floor’s patio.
Aside from its own departments, Holts is also playing host to a newly-opened Chanel flagship, as well as reimagined spaces for Fendi, Tom Ford, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Gucci, and more. The full redesign project will take approximately one year to complete, rolling out in phases so as not to disrupt the shopping experience; when all is said and done, nearly 80 per cent of the entire store will have received a facelift. And so, for customers, only one question: where to begin?
