Van Cleef & Arpels at Birks Vancouver

Lovers' lane.

There is perhaps no more obvious partnership than love and precious jewels. What else but adoration could spur the hollowing of pocket books for remarkably shiny rocks?

Built on a foundation of stones and love, French jewellery maison Van Cleef & Arpels is a long-standing testament to this classic pairing. In 1895 Estelle Arpels, the daughter of a jewel dealer, married Alfred Van Cleef, the son of a stone cutter, and together they opened their namesake boutique at 22 Place Vendôme in the city of love.

More than 100 years later, Van Cleef & Arpels continues to supply those struck by cupid’s bow with the opening of the newly renovated Vancouver boutique, housed within Birks’s West Hastings location. Boasting more than 1,435 square feet, the store has been re-vamped with its historic Paris flagship in mind: lush and elegant, dressed in black and gold, and accessorized with a crystal chandelier, its interior provides supple ambience. Host to new as well as historic assortments such as the iconic flour-leaf clover Alhambra collection (signifying luck and love, of course) as well as the Cadenas timepiece selection, the new Van Cleef & Arpels is satisfyingly equipped. Completed with a private library where clients can coo over cherished works, it’s an intimate experience that celebrates the best in craftsmanship.

With lover in hand, a wander through the jewels is a timeless pleasure.
