Life’s many and various tasks are simply more fun with a couple layers of lacquer. Dicing vegetables, applying makeup, texting, writing emails—all seem a bit more playful with a swipe of colour across your nails.
Shellac polish, created by Creative Nail Design Inc. (CND), has been all the rage, and understandably so. A gel hybrid results in a manicure that lasts for over two weeks with nary a nick in sight. This salon-based service is certainly appealing, but not always accessible when touch-ups and quick applications are needed. Enter Vinylux, the latest offering from CND.
The Vinylux polish line tops out at a hefty 62 shades, all in a self-adhering colour coat that eliminates the need for a base coat. When combined with the Vinylux Top Coat, which features ProLight Technology and polymer bonds that strengthen the durability of the polish with exposure to natural light, the application lasts for a week. Over 40 colours match popular CND Shellac shades, allowing for at-home touch-ups on the base of the nail as the Shellac manicure grows out, or a matching pedicure. For added convenience, Vinylux is easily removable with a regular acetone-based polish remover.
The spring 2014 Open Road collection consists of six pastel shades inspired by dreams of road trips, festivals, and balmy summer nights ahead, including Desert Poppy, Sage Scarf, Mint Convertible, Clay Canyon, and Powder My Nose. For a soft, yet unexpected pop of colour, try Sun Bleached, a creamy butter yellow. These polishes make a statement and will stand fast against those inevitably busy days.
