Cirque du Soleil

<em>"Totem" </em>tumbles into town.

Cirque du Soleil returns to the Grand Chapiteau at Concord Pacific Place for another summer run. The latest spectacle to come to Vancouver, Totem, traces the fascinating journey of evolution—told, of course, in Cirque’s signature style: through 12 dazzling, death-defying, jaw-dropping acts.

What makes Cirque’s latest offering extra special is the involvement of Quebec’s iconic man-of-theatre, Robert Lepage—one of the country’s most honoured film and theatre artists—as writer and director. Totem is Lepage’s second Cirque show (he made his debut with , which premiered in 2004) and his Midas touch can be seen in the video projections sprinkled throughout the acrobatic thrills. It certainly makes for an awe-inspiring history lesson.
