Meal Kits and Provision Boxes to Spruce Up Your Home-Cooking

If your grocery list is starting to look a little repetitive, or the length of time it’s taking to receive a supermarket delivery is causing dinner dismay, then it’s time to consider checking out some of the provision boxes, meal kits, and premade sauces and stocks available from our local restaurants.

Spruce up your salads with local greens, deliver your taste buds some excitement with a house-made pasta sauce, or make eating at home fun again with make-your-own pizza, ramen, or sushi kits. You may not be able to do everything you want to at the moment, but making mealtimes meaningful is a good way to improve the day.

Caffè La Tana

Missing out on all your Italian favourites? Caffè La Tana on Commercial Drive is busy stocking its alimentari with everything from canned San Marzano tomatoes to the finest pasta and sauces, prepared meatballs from sister restaurant Pepino’s, salamis, dairy, eggs, and cuts of meat.

There are also make-at-home meal kits, including penne alla vodka, riccioli Bolognese, and the one that sounds fun as well as delicious—the pizza kit, with two balls of ready-made dough, pomodoro sauce, anchovies, salami, and fresh buffalo mozzarella. Yes, please. Delivery available, pick up for a 10 per cent discount.

Earls Grocery

If you’re fed up looking for a delivery slot from the supermarket, Earls Grocery might be a good alternative. With a pretty broad selection of produce, pantry items, proteins—and even toilet paper—its offerings can easily keep you and your family well fed for a while.

The Acorn

The award-winning vegetarian restaurant is operating the Acorn Market for pickup and delivery, with a variety of excellent produce from small local farms, premade sauces, fresh pasta, ancient grain sourdough loaves, and a select few classic menu items, including a kit to make its signature kale Caesar salad, and select B.C. wines.
