Noble Vines 667 Pinot Noir and Robert Mondavi Fume Blanc Reserve

The wine.

There’s a new kid in town. We are talking pinot noir, at an excellent price, $16, from the Monterey region of California. It is called Noble Vines 667, so named for the specific Burgundian clone used to grow the grapes. The wine is New World in style with abundant cherry fruit, a nice touch of spice and vanilla. Owned by the Delicato wine company. And for a special occasion, a must-try wine: Robert Mondavi Fume Blanc Reserve, $47. This is a special bottle of wine, from the famous To-Kalon vineyard, where the Mondavi Reserve cabernet sauvignon comes from. Astounding depth, unctuous mouth feel, explosive fruit notes of pineapple, lime, and redolent with savoury sage flavours as well. Extraordinary.
