The Girls and Ravenswood Reds

The wine.

The Girls is a new winery, producing, at this point, a red and a rosé. Both wines were introduced during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and all profits from sales of these wines go directly to the B.C./Yukon chapter of the Canadian Cancer Foundation. Vivacious Rosé, $20, is bright, lively, full of fresh fruit and good acidity. Voluptuous Red, $25, is a well-structured blend of merlot, cabernet franc, and petite verdot. Both wines are made by the talented team at Time Estate Winery in Oliver. Donate and drink; you can feel good in more ways than one.

Also, Ravenswood founder and winemaker Joel Peterson was in Vancouver for a day recently and  presented the latest in his portfolio, a fabulous red blend (petite sirah, carignane, zinfandel, syrah, barbera, alicante bouschet, mourvèdre), sourced from hand-picked vineyards throughout Sonoma County. Black cherry, blackberry, even a hint of cardamom, all rich, opulent, with a long finish that will keep you coming back for more. A limited release, and at $25, it will go fast.
