Olympia Le-Tan’s precious little book clutches, available at the Room at the Bay in Vancouver, are a part of her eponymous handbag label that also includes totes and minaudières. Her debut collection for spring/summer 2010, “You can’t judge a book by its cover”—all handmade in France—is inspired by the first-edition covers of 21 classic novels. Each canvas book-clutch features Le-Tan’s signature felt appliqué embroidery as well as Liberty print lining.
Le-Tan’s fall/winter 2011 collection is inspired by the life of the 1950s housewife, and includes cookbook clutches and children’s book suitcases as well as a set of milk jug minaudières. There are plenty to choose from, but with no plot descriptions on the back, one should take care to select wisely.
