Wearers and admirers of fine watchmaking came together to celebrate the opening of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Vancouver boutique, one of only two in all of Canada (the other being in Toronto). Brand CEO Daniel Riedo and North American president Philippe Bonay were present for the occasion, which took place inside the classy new store on Alberni Street: 82 square-metres of highly curated timepieces, showcasing the Swiss company’s depth and longevity as a go-to source for excellence. The intimate affair reflects the closeness customers will undoubtedly feel when shopping at this location, which is covered in luxurious materials in warm and soothing earth tones. Framed design sketches line the walls, offering a glimpse into the artistry and craftsmanship that goes into each item.
Actor Sarah Gadon, the face of the new Rendez-Vous watch, joined in the soiree, which travelled from the store to L’Abattoir for a lovely three-course long table dinner. A highlight, of course, was seeing the pieces in action, and the innovative and versatile Reverso (with a delicate rectangle face that reverses to reveal a different design on the opposite side) did not disappoint on wrist. Speaking of the Reverso, it celebrates its 85th anniversary this year, and to celebrate Jaeger-LeCoultre has enlisted some famous friends, including iconic shoe designer Christian Louboutin. In a film starring Elisa Sednaoui and directed by Olga de Grèce, Louboutin makes a cameo, demonstrating the Reverso Scarababe.
