Ontario-Made

Hot and centre.

Our hearts will always beat the fastest in beautiful British Columbia, but dutifully acknowledge that the rest of Canada has plenty to offer, as well. Creatives, innovators, and entrepreneurs dot the entire country, but seem to abound in our central big sister. Here are three noteworthy products coming out of Ontario.

Venque

Founded in 2011 by brother duo Viktor and Simon Cui, Venque accessories are completely designed and produced in Toronto. Made with accents of quality leather, Venque’s true story lies in its proprietary fabric Quanta. Anti-scratch as well as water- and dust-repellent, the thick, durable material means bags will last, and look nice doing it. The brand’s Hamptons design, pictured here, holds a 15-inch laptop, has pockets for binders, notebooks, and a tablet, and comes with a removable shoulder strap. The embellishments of gold leather give it a fresh and opulent appearance, meaning it can work for the office or the weekend.

Flow

Brand new to the world of packaged water this year is Flow, the liquid for which comes from a family-owned limestone aquifer in Southern Ontario’s town of Mildmay. Due to the fact that the water freely collects electrolytes and essential minerals including calcium carbonate, zinc, and potassium, it has a natural alkaline pH and therefore has no need to be filtered. Flow’s cardboard carton is made from two-thirds renewable materials that are BPA-free and non-PET, meaning it’s equally good for you and for the environment.

Apogee

Brittany Junek created her accessories line Apogee Goods in Vancouver in 2012, but has since moved the operation to Toronto. Every item is handmade, including this slim belt with brass buckle, available in both black and brown. Crafted with a heavy vegetable-tanned leather from Italy, the belt features permanent rivet construction that prevents it from wearing out, as well as rounded and burnished edges for a beautifully simple aesthetic.

Each piece, unique; each purpose, refined.
