Van Cleef & Arpels Alhambra Turns 50

Lucky charm.

Faith, hope, love, and luck. It’s been said that each petal of a four-leaf clover represents one of these four elements, promising good fortune in all aspects of the finder’s life. And so, when French jewellery house Van Cleef & Arpels introduced the enduring symbol of luck in its Alhambra collection in 1968, it went on to become a favourite accessory of women everywhere, from American actor Reese Witherspoon to Princess Grace of Monaco. Now synonymous with the brand 50 years later, a special limited-edition release of the lucky charm is debuting in November 2018.

Staying true to the iconic long necklace is a dazzling combination of precious stones met by various colours of gold. Featuring iridescent grey mother-of-pearl set inside paved pink gold, a stunning rendition of the vintage fine-chained necklace boasts alternating clover motifs with matching Magic Alhambra earrings and bracelet. For those with cool-toned skin, the onyx and paved white gold version is an equally elegant choice, displaying a balance of serenity and glamour in true Van Cleef style. If something delicate and fresh is more to taste, there is also charming rock crystal fitted inside yellow gold—a shining example of high jewellery meets easy-to-wear pieces.

Worn as a statement to the bar or layered with dainty pendants to brunch, this emblem of French savoir-faire is an elegant sign of more good things to come.
