Though Vancouver’s winter weather has yet to subside , it’s never too early to start planning a wardrobe refresh in anticipation of the warmer months to come. Luckily, Weekend Max Mara is making it very easy to get ahead with the launch of their high-spirited Spring/Summer 2019 collection, Nantucket.
Inspired by the island just off Cape Cod, Massachusetts (America’s favourite summer destination), the 12-piece range is the latest from the brand’s capsule Signature Collection and is a collaboration with Anthony Baratta, dubbed the “king of East Coast Chic” for his work transforming the interiors of America’s summer houses and rustic cottages along the Eastern seaboard since the 1980s. Nantucket —available from March 2019 at all Weekend Max Mara stores across Canada and online—features the American interior designer’s signature nautical motifs, primary colors, and exuberant patterns. And the face of the collection is none other than American sweetheart and recent Vogue cover star Hailey Rhode Bieber.
Standout items from the capsule include the palazzo trousers, available in both strawberry red gingham lined with blue rick-rack trim and a fresh blue-and-white stripe. These playful colours are also to be found on the 1960s-inspired sleeveless sundress, which falls elegantly at the calf. Moving from daylight to moonlight couldn’t be easier.
Nantucket is Baratta’s first official collaboration with a fashion brand, and his aesthetic extends to the accessories. There are cotton slippers in nautical wide blue-and-white stripes and delicate, classic Hollywood-style yellow-and-blue scarves. The season’s hot shade of lemon yellow also makes an appearance on a patterned trouser decorated with illustrations inspired by previous Baratta furniture designs. His interiors work is also reflected in a print featuring Chinese porcelain vases, available in both a duster coat and a Max Mara signature Pasticcino bag.
With these sophisticated and comfortable wardrobe staples, Weekend Max Mara’s Nantucket collection will have you longing for the long, hot days and nights of summer, wherever your travels may take you.
