After Months of Loyal Isolation Cuddles, Your Dog Deserves New Treats—Here Are Some of the Best

If there’s one blessed group we haven’t had to socially distance from in the past few months, thankfully, it’s our pets. It’s fair to say our trusted companions have had an inverse relationship with COVID-19: the more stressed we are, the less stressed they become as they’re pressed into service for cuddles, kisses, and an abundance of soothing hugs.

As the net beneficiaries of this stuck-at-home regime, it seems only fitting they receive an upgrade in the accessories department.

If COVID  has taught us anything, it’s that a good shower and shampoo can make us feel like a million bucks (that and refreshing our daily sweatpant regime). The same goes for our furry friends, who all started to smell a little funky after many of their hair salons closed down too these past few months.

Enter Aesop, the ne plus ultra of skin, hair, and body care for stylish people everywhere. For the pampered pet, the brand’s fur wash—formulated with lemon rind, tea tree leaf, and spearmint leaf—comes with deodorizing properties while also gently cleansing and calming your dog’s sensitive skin. Bonus: It’s suitable as a hand soap for you, too.

And because we’re likely going to be spending a lot of time in our backyards this summer, the Apres BBQ dog shirt by Dog Threads fits the bill.  This pint-sized iconic summer staple is made with soft, breathable 100 per cent cotton featuring a front-button closure and spread collar. From extra-small to extra-large with aloha spirit everywhere.

With isolation measures still in place for the foreseeable future, it’s also a perfect time to train a puppy. Yet not all crates are created equal. Eschew the standard-issue plastic versions from the pet store and instead go for the Ecoflex Pet Crate from the New Age Pet Collection. With its stainless steel spindles, think of this more as a Pottery Barn–like version of a convertible crib. Not only does it look good, it works double duty as a useful end table.  Crafted from an eco-friendly material of recycled polymers and reclaimed wood.

Our furry friends are here to serve us, so let’s serve them on the best china in the house—or, in this case, stoneware. Le Creuset’s pet bowl comes in a high-gloss cerise-coloured finish that’s durable and resistant to stains and odours, and its wide base means it won’t tip over, either. Just pop it in the dishwasher; no begging required.

These past few months, our pooches have often been the only thing that gets us moving, and for that, we should thank them. Part of the Moncler Genius x Poldo Dog Couture collaboration, this multicolour dog leash takes walks to new lengths in 48.5 inches of navy, white, and red. Made in Italy with buffed brown calfskin trim, lobster clasp, and gunmetal-tone hardware. See Spot run, or at least happily trot along by your side.
