Art Books, Night Creams, and Sustainable Sweaters Are on MONTECRISTO’s October Wishlist

Sulwhasoo Serum

The cult-hero First Care Activating Serum VI from K-beauty brand Sulwhasoo is designed to strengthen the skin barrier with peony, white lily, and—new this fall—ginseng, which is blended in after a 500-hour natural ripening process.

Poppy Barley Sweater

Certified B Corporation Poppy Barley first took flight—on foot—with responsibly made leather shoes and boots featuring luxury materials, sustainable practices, and inclusive sizing (the boots can accommodate varying calf sizes). This fall, the Edmonton-based brand branches out to clothing that follows the same ethos: the knitwear capsule collection consists of the Novel cardigan (pictured above), Cove crewneck, and Retreat mockneck, made from sustainable cotton, lambswool, merino wool, and recycled cashmere.

Louis Vuitton Yayoi Kusama Book

Art imitates life in Yayoi Kusama’s world, where dots, “Infinity Nets,” and mirrored rooms have represented the Japanese artist’s mental-health journey over her decades-long career. In the new Rizzoli tome Louis Vuitton Yayoi Kusama, launching October 3, readers are invited to immerse themselves in the artist’s fantastical, kaleidoscopic works, including her now-iconic collaboration with fashion house Louis Vuitton.

Wildcraft Candles

Wildcraft skin care was first cooked up in Laura Whitaker’s kitchen in 2014. Whitaker, a member of the Mohawk nation from Six Nations of the Grand River, still makes small batches of nourishing products using powerful plant-based ingredients that heal and feed the skin. This fall, the company introduces Awaken, Focus, and Unwind, all-natural aromatherapy candles made from a coconut-soy wax blend along with essential oils such as rosemary, lavender, and lemongrass. Bonus: Every order contributes to the environment through 1% for the Planet.

Three Ships Night Cream

Frustrated with the skin-care market’s overhyped, overpriced, and overly complicated offerings, Three Ships launched in 2017 in the kitchen of a small Toronto apartment with the goal of being what good skin care should always be: traceable, cruelty-free, and all-natural—without breaking the bank. After expanding swiftly, Three Ships is now a Certified B Corp with products available at Whole Foods. Its Dream Bio-Retinol + Shorea Butter Night Cream contains a gentle plant-based retinol from picão preto (a medicinal herb native to Brazil), along with vegan squalane and seed butters like Shorea and murumuru, which seal in moisture.

Veja x Ref Venturi Sneaker

Cult-fave sustainable-fashion brand Reformation joins forces with sneaker behemoth Veja for a fall-ready collaboration that launches October 5. Available in vintage-inspired cream and brown colourways, the Veja x Ref Venturi sneaker has a bio-based upper crafted from recycled cotton, jute, and suede from Brazil that’s tanned without using any hazardous chemicals, while its sole uses Amazonian rubber, sugarcane, and natural latex.
