Susan Juby, valued MONTECRISTO contributor, has published her sixth book, titled Nice Recovery. The irony of the title is perhaps best revealed in the book’s working title, which was “Drinky Pants: A Quitter’s Story”. Another more operative irony is that this is a story of a young girl’s recovery from alcohol addiction, emerging from that dark wood at a time when most post-adolescents are actually only beginning to explore the wonders and perils of alcohol.
Other titles to look for are Alice, I Think; Miss Smithers; and Getting the Girl: A Guide to Private Investigation, Surveillance and Cookery. If you are beginning to surmise that Ms. Juby is a writer of raw talent and wry temperament, tough minded, detail-driven and very funny, you would be correct.
