Collections—no matter how small or large—don’t happen overnight. But they do start simply, with a single artifact or a small group of objects, and an interminable fascination with a certain something. For some, what may have begun as a hobby eventually transforms into a serious pursuit, honed over time to form a special resource, a specific catalogue of relics that tell a story and provide us with valuable insight into our past. Postcards, steamship memorabilia, books, furniture—over the years we have met with private collectors to see what makes them tick.
