Whether she meant to or not, when Beyoncé wore Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint and Cloud Paint to the 2018 Grammys, she made a serious statement: the millennial-focused brand is not just for millennials.
Not only has Glossier taken over the inner circle of beauty bloggers and skin care fanatics on Instagram, but it is also becoming one of the most talked-about and influential companies on the market. Ladies, now let’s get in formation.
New to the New York-based line founded by The Hills alum Emily Weiss is Glossier Solution, a chemical exfoliant that aims to whisk away dead skin cells, unplug clogged pores, and reduce acne breakouts and pigmented scarring.
The alpha hydroxy acid (including lactic and glycolic acids) in Solution helps to dissolve excess dead skin cells on the surface and visibly reduce dark spots; meanwhile, the beta hydroxy acid (or salicylic acid) breaks down the oil and sebum—two things that lead to clogged pores and eventually acne breakouts. Polyhydroxy acid (or gluconolactone), a conditioning and hydrating agent, attracts and retains moisture, while aloe comforts and soothes. The smell isn’t the greatest, but hey, that’s probably what three chemical exfoliators will do to any topical beautifying liquid—and anyway, the focus of this product is efficacy.
Glossier is only available online (aside from in-person at the brand’s Manhattan showroom), and as of late 2017, ships all over Canada. If looking for something to scrub away the layers of winter or combat pesky breakouts, consider trying Solution; and when in doubt, just ask yourself what Beyoncé would do.
