Sunday June 8 is Italian Day on the Drive. Yes, that would be Commercial Drive, and yes, there will be a lot of Italian culture on display. The theme for this year is “Made in Italy”, which conjures up images not only of la dolce vita but of fine leather goods, olive oils, artisanship married with design.
The Italian Cultural Center will have a Little Italy Kids Zone with arts and crafts, face painting and many more fun activities. Whitecaps FC will have a kicking cage and the Whitecaps mascot will make an appearance. The festival’s museum will feature Italian inventions such as the radio, the bicycle, and the coffee machine. Many vintage cars will be on display as well, and all of this serves to underline this year’s theme.
