Shogun table lamp (1986). Designed by Mario Botta; manufactured by Artemide.
Swiss architect Mario Botta designed his first building when he was 16. Most of his projects were built in Ticino, southern Switzerland, where he works, but in the Americas he is best known for the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art building. Botta’s style is characterized by strong geometric forms and simple shapes, and can also be recognized in the small number of interior design objects he created, including the Shogun table light, a piece with a painted metal stem and white adjustable diffusers in painted perforated plate steel.
