I recently discovered the incredible health benefits of turmeric, and wanted to incorporate it into a cocktail and share its goodness with our guests at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia. I also knew that the bright gold colour would be visually stunning. Here’s how to make it at home.
Ingredients
1 ounce Cazadores Reposado
1 ounce Dolin’s dry vermouth
1 ounce Turmeric Syrup*
0.67 ounces lemon juice
0.33 ounces orange juice
2 ounces soda
Black pepper
1 dehydrated blood orange
*Turmeric Syrup
Ingredients
6 ounces fresh turmeric (skins on, smashed)
2 litres water
2 litres honey
Method
In a large pot, bring water to boil.
Add turmeric.
Reduce to medium heat for 10 minutes, stir occasionally.
Remove from heat, strain, stir in honey.
Let stand to cool.
Method for the drink
Add cubed ice to a Teku glass.
Add lemon juice and orange juice.
Add Dolin’s dry vermouth, Cazadores Reposado, and Turmeric Syrup.
Top with soda.
Garnish with fresh cracked pepper and one dehydrated blood orange.
