Air West Launches Luxury Private Charters

Looking for an efficient and comfortable means to reach your business meeting in Whitehorse or Prince George? New private charter line, Air West, has found what it believes is a niche opportunity: offering flight service to cities throughout B.C. currently underserved by the luxury transportation market. And, perhaps more crucially, providing a faster alternative to flying through YVR.

Built by the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941 as a training base for pilots during the Second World War, Boundary Bay airport is only 20 minutes from downtown Vancouver and serves as the new charter company’s base. From Boundary Bay, Air West flies to over 70 destinations in Western Canada with its King Air 90 series planes. The planes seat up to six people and can go on trips as brief as 15 minutes—the short hop from Vancouver to Victoria.

While Air West is certainly geared for business travel (unfolding tables and seats facing each other make for a convenient in-flight boardroom), they are also perfect for private parties looking for a sophisticated and comfortable journey to leisure destinations such as the Okanagan for a wine tour, or to Vancouver Island for whale watching.

The first destination package from Air West will bring guests to one of Canada’s largest Dark Sky Preserves for the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra’s Symphony Under The Stars. Tucked below the majestic Great Canadian Rocky Mountain range, you can sip hot chocolate under warm blankets while gazing at the night sky. Sign me up.
