Vancouver is a city defined by its nature as much as its people, and it is perhaps through the relationship between the two that the very best things are created. Local custom lighting design firm Propellor has a view of the North Shore mountains from its office space, and took inspiration from B.C.’s terrain with its Range series, a collection of sculpted mountain ranges that, when plugged in, light up and seem to glow. Made from gypsum and basalt, the hammered stone of Range 36 is as much a work of art as it is a light fixture. In August, Range was exhibited at the Canada House in London. The hills are alive.
