Dior Lady Art #2 in Vancouver

Created to be coveted.

Inside the newly opened Dior accessories boutique within Holt Renfrew Vancouver, one wall stands out from the rest. While the entire space—the brand’s largest accessories store in Canada—is filled with beautiful leather handbags and dazzling sunglasses, this particular wall bares the French house’s name in glowing capital letters, and holds some extremely rare beauties: the Dior Lady Art #2 collection.

For the second year in a row, Dior commissioned artists from around the world to design special limited-edition versions of its iconic Lady Dior handbag. Debuted in 1995 and catapulted to superstar status in 1996 after being spotted on the arm of Princess Diana, the Lady Dior is still instantly recognizable today.

Dior Lady Art #2 pieces are rare in number and location, with only select boutiques across the globe carrying the collection. In Vancouver, the Holt Renfrew accessories boutique has a fair selection, including John Giorno’s rainbow piece imprinted with the words “You Got To Burn To Shine” and Hong Hao’s textured version that is covered with multi-coloured and different-sized buttons. Creations by others including German Friedrich Kunath, Swiss-Guniean Namsa Leuba, and Kenyan-American Jamilla Okubo round out the diverse offering.

The arrival of these pieces, and the opening of this space, further indents the brand’s footprint in Vancouver—a city that received a massive flagship in 2015, and clearly had the appetite for a little more Dior.
