While the Blue Mountain Vineyard and Cellars pinot blanc deserves every rave review it gets, the sauvignon blanc ($19) is at least as impressive. Using native yeasts and fruit from an estate vineyard, this wine is perfect for early evening sipping, for a chat over the charcoals as they heat up, and especially with seafood appetizers and a bit of rustic bread. Another high quality, great value wine from one of the Okanagan’s best.
Moving only a little further south, Tinhorn Creek keeps on hitting them out of the park. The pinot noir ($22) really over delivers, with ample, full-blown fruit and attractive acidity. Pork roast and a nice wild mushroom risotto will make any evening a special one. Who knows, you might even find a reason, near the bottom of the bottle, to believe the Canucks will make the playoffs this year.
