Gwen de la Costa first opened up shop—or, in this case, a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van—in 2021 when she launched her mobile spa to bring custom facials right to your door. Scandi design meets serenity spa in the travelling Gwen Skin Lab, which builds upon de la Costa’s medical-aesthetics practice long honed in Vancouver. With years of experience at Beverly’s the Spa on 4th, Skoah, and Project Skin MD, she comes to the (heated) massage table with serious chops to offer exquisite custom facials using active ingredients—all while parked in front of your house. Louis Vuitton x Campana Cocoon Chair
In the Cocoon hanging chair, part of Louis Vuitton’s Objets Nomades collection, luxury Brazilian furniture house Campana combines leading-edge technology with LV’s leathercraft savoir faire. Lined with calfskin and trimmed in brass, the perforated fibreglass shell has a two-metre-long woven-leather suspension cord.
Take a seat in the limited-edition chair while browsing in Louis Vuitton’s newest—and largest—maison in Canada, inside the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. It features men’s and women’s leather goods, jewellery, and the iconic brand’s hardsided pieces. In the newly revamped and expanded space, art from across the world offers a stunning backdrop for the clothing and footwear collections. Admire a painting by Italian artist Isadora Capraro, a Hélène de Saint Lager coffee table, and a three-dimensional canvas by local artist Scott Sueme, who explores perception and colour.
Balmain Paris Hair Couture Héritage Collection
Studio 54 and disco hair weren’t yet in the fashion firmament in 1974 when Balmain Hair arrived on the scene with the finest handcrafted wigs. Conceived by wigmaker Dick Guliker in partnership with fashion designer Pierre Balmain (who aimed to go head-to-head with wig lines from Christian Dior and Pierre Cardin), these handmade hairpieces eventually evolved into hair extensions, then a line of premium natural shampoos and conditioners that remain the brand’s signature calling card today.
To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Balmain Paris Hair Couture introduces the Héritage 1974 Collection in Canada this month. Featuring non-greasy formulations suitable for all hair types, enduring aromas, and good-for-you ingredients that are also good for the planet, the new trio of unisex hair perfumes—Ginger 1974, Cardamom 1974, and Vetiver 1974—promises to leave all the other heavy, sticky fragrance sprays firmly in the past.
