Jenice Yu has a simple goal: “I just want to get people to eat more fish.” That is why she decided to open a retail store, located in Market Crossing, down there on Marine Way. She stocks the store with a beguiling array of seafood, the vast majority of it from British Columbia waters, and much of that from her family’s Grand Hale Marine Products. F.I.S.H. (Fresh Ideas Start Here) also supplies some select restaurants with seafood products, including West, Diva at the Met, Wildebeest, and Maenam. Yu pauses for a moment, looking around the shop. “I grew up watching my uncle, who owns Grand Hale, and his team bring their catches in to the docks. All the best stuff always went directly onto ships headed to Japan and other places. I want to make sure our local customers get the best, these days.” Done.
